South Africa:
The AIDS Committee of Windsor partnered with the uMngeni AIDS Centre, Hilton, South Africa in 2001. Tragically, the events of September 11th negated efforts on both sides of the ocean to bring this project to fruition. This year representatives of the uMngeni AIDS Centre in Hilton, Africa were in Windsor from September 13 until September 30.
The purpose of their visit was to bring awareness to our community about the global impact of HIV/AIDS and to participate in a mentorship program with our agency. Money was raised through extensive community speaking engagements, selling crafts and AIDS pins for the centre.
Schools and businesses can participate by holding Red Ribbon days, where for a small donation, participants get to wear a red ribbon.

Events are held by the AIDS Committee of Windsor to both, raise much needed funds for programs and services, as well as to increase public awareness about HIV/AIDS.
